We were always taught as kids to color inside the lines but then encouraged to think outside the box. Well it is possible to do both.
When viewing your surroundings, try to isolate form. By that I mean, look at the components of things rather than everything as a whole. Sometimes part of an object can be more interesting than the entirety of it.
See the outline of an object as a shape. What are the angles? Where are the intersections? Are there curves that can be highlighted?
Much of what we see, we see as mundane. We walk right past without looking closer at its form and shape.
There is much that is intriguing if we pause and then look at its parts – rather than the sum of its parts.
